Plus you can only soak up to 10 stacks of the purple beam before its instant kill so you have to get out of the beam and then Avatar goes into phase 2. Maaaaan that sucks. Then this isn't really legacy then : (. They did say that on Mythic some bosses may require several people. It is legacy, you just can't solo it.
You can solo everything as a tank in legion. I have a 273 brewmaster and it is trivial, but you don't need to have that much gear. You could do it at 240s if you were careful.
